Little bit of family time

Over the weekend was a Utah holiday, Pioneer Day. Normally we'd make plans and do something fun but Tyson had to be at drill. Darn it. So last night we had some much needed family time.
I cooked one of my absolute favorite dishes. Pesto Chicken. As luck would have it my mom had just given me some homemade pesto.
I know that the raw chicken looks gross but check out the color of that pesto! Had we not been so eager to eat I would have gotten 'after baking' photos where  it shows the melted mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. So tasty over wild rice!
Next up? Water balloons! LT loves throwing them. Usually we can't fill them fast enough so I thought we'd give these a try. They're pretty awesome. Granted it's not the kind of thing we'd buy every time but for last night it was perfect.
Best part about the water balloons? The giggles from LT when a balloon was popped over someone's head. Don't mind the red dripping down his chin.. It's watermelon! I thought it'd be fun to have frozen watermelon sticks for dessert. LT agreed.

He even carried it around while we checked out the garden for ripe cherry tomatoes.
By the time all 100 balloons had been successfully popped all three of us were drenched! Luckily a warm bubble bath was up next followed by snuggles, books, a couple episodes of Octonauts (our new obsession) and some singing before falling asleep.
It always amazing to me how much fun the little things like water balloons are with LT. He is surely our little water boy. 😍

A little review

Since I didn't get a chance to add many photos last night I figure now would be a great time to look back at some of the highlights of the past month or so!

LT giving lots of loves to Einstein. Einstein is the most patient dog ever. Secretly
I think he likes all the attention.

Both of my boys asleep for a nap.

With ear infections comes many tears. We've had our 3rd in 6 months so I'm they stop or we may be headed for tubes!

The BEST birthday present LT got. A water slide with a pool at the bottom. Tyson was in work clothes or we would have pulled him in. Instead he took this. I may have had just as much fun as LT did!

LT is now my workout buddy. He was practicing for our workout using some kettle bells.

You know it's going to be a good day when dad lets you rid in the wheel barrow in your PJs. Tyson is such a fun and amazing dad!

A selfie mid-run with Lindsey, Tyson's little sister. That run was just under 18 miles!

Even though it was raining LT insisted on helping with the trucks new intake.

I look like I've been working out too but I was a spectator while Tyson did the St. George 70.3 Ironman. He kicked butt!

It's been a while..

My goodness. It's been quite a while. Over 2 years in fact! While I always wanted to get this blog back up and running it just didn't happen. We got overwhelmed with the awesome of our son 'LT'. Since that hasn't been discussed here yet I'll begin with that. A brief story as there is so much that needs updating on the next few posts..

In late November 2012, we were contacted by an expectant mother. She invited us to come to her 20 week ultrasound with her and her sister to confirm the gender of the baby. While we were pretty sure she had chosen us there wasn't that ah-ha moment where we knew without a shadow of a doubt until in the Dr's office where she introduced us to the Dr as the adoptive parents!
Fast forward to April 2013. Our perfect son was born and placed with us 2 days later. While his birth mom originally wanted more of a closed adoption it wasn't long before it all opened up and we saw her and her family. Now we see them anytime we're nearby and we wouldn't change it for the world. They are our family and always will be.
